The Atlanta Braves (9-11) got a loss and a tie in split-squad games on Sunday and will visit the Tampa Bay Rays (7-13) on Monday afternoon at Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte, Florida, as the Grapefruit League schedule winds down. The Rays learned on Sunday that right fielder Josh Lowe will open the season on the injured list. Out much of the spring with a hip injury, Lowe will be sidelined after sustaining an injury to an oblique. He slashed .292/.335/.500 with 20 homers, 83 RBI and 32 stolen bases in his first full season in the majors in 2023.

Tampa Bay took an 8-4 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. Right-hander Edwin Uceta allowed a run on three hits with five strikeouts over three innings and the Rays led 2-1 and 3-2 before the Pirates put the game away late. Brandon Lowe homered for Tampa Bay in the sixth inning.
The Braves lost 8-2 to the Baltimore Orioles and tied the Boston Red Sox 3-3. Austin Riley homered against the O's and Phillip Evans had an RBI knock while Spencer Strider fanned seven in 4.2 scoreless innings. Atlanta got the tie against the Red Sox with two runs in the sixth, one on Ozzie Albies' RBI double.
Right-hander Chris Devenski opens for the Rays on Monday. He has allowed a run over four innings of relief work this spring. Left-hander Max Fried gets his third tuneup start for the Braves after allowing four runs in five innings in Florida.
